LET'S TALK ABOUT GOD

The churches of Christ Greet You (Romans 16:16)

Introduction:

Jesus is not only the Son of God, but also God the Son.  Since no greater truth is affirmed in the Sacred Text, one cannot read the Bible (especially the New Testament) without recognizing the One who is God the Son (cf. Heb. 1:8).  This doctrine in fact permeates the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation; only a materialist would fail to see it.

V.  LET'S TALK ABOUT THE LORD GOD

The Bible teaches that the ONE Lord GOD is our CREATOR and our RULER.  In one passage, Deuteronomy 6:4, we can see the absolute ONENESS of God, and also the PLURAL aspects of the Godhead.  Moses said concerning the Being of God, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord (Jehovah) our God (Heb. Elohim, plural) is one (Heb. achid or echad - meaning a united being; a compound unity - not just one) Lord (Jehovah)” (Deuteronomy 6:4).

Thus, the Lord God is NOT the being of three ranked Persons who would be called the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in being our Creator.  NEITHER can the one God of the Scriptures be three ranked Gods who would be called God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

The Lord God is, however, the being of THREE equal Persons who are made to be called the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit in being our Creator.  The one Lord God of the Scriptures CAN be more than one Heavenly Person providing that those Heavenly Persons equally possess the same Essence, Nature, Substance, Powers, and Attributes of the one and only Lord God.

In being our Creator, Moses said concerning the Lord God: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Gen. 2:7).  John said, concerning the Persons who are called the Lord God in being our Creator, "For there are three (Persons) that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit: and these three (Persons) are one" (equal - 1 John 5:7).  The THREE members of the Godhead are equal in matters of their own individual Being of life.  They equally possess the same Powers, Nature, and Attributes of the one and only Lord God.

The Bible also teaches that the Lord GOD is the Father of Christ the Lord, and Christ the Lord is the Son of the Lord God.  The Father and the Son relationship which exist between the Lord God and Christ the Lord is NOT the being of two ranked Persons.  The reign of the Lord God was made to be the Father-head figure of the reign of Christ the Lord, and the reign of Christ the Lord was made to be the Offspring status of the reign of the Lord God.  The reign of the Lord God brought the reign of Christ the Lord into being upon the earth so that CHRIST could do the Divine work of human redemption.

The Lord God (a God-Person) was born Christ the Lord upon the earth so that He could do the Divine work of human redemption. The Lord God said, "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; He (Christ the Lord) shall bruise thy head, and thou (the Devil) shalt bruise his heel” (Gen. 3:15).  “For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11).

The Father and the Son relationship which exist between the Lord God and Christ the Lord is the being of a Father-head figure and an Offspring status relationship instead of being two ranked Persons. This is why the THREE God-Persons who are called the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit (in being our Creator) equally made themselves to be called Christ the Lord in being the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit so that they could be our Redeemer.

The Bible says, “The Lord (God) said unto my Lord (Christ), sit thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that (the Lord) God (who was the being of the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit in Heaven) hath made that same Jesus (who was the Incarnated Word upon the earth), whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:34-36).

Jesus (who was made both Lord and Christ) said concerning those THREE Heavenly Persons who would be called Christ the Lord in matters of our own redemption of life, “Go teach all nations, baptizing them in the name (the authority) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:18-20).

Christ the Lord is our REDEEMER and our RULER.  Christ the Lord is NOT the being of only one Heavenly Person who would be called the Son (Jesus) in being our Redeemer.  Christ the Lord was made to be more than one Heavenly Person in matters of our own redemption of life.  Christ the Lord is the being of THREE equal Persons who are called the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in being our Redeemer.

Man, in being an alien sinner, must be baptized into CHRIST (Rom. 6:3) for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38).  AGAIN, Jesus said concerning the reign of Christ the Lord in being our Redeemer, “Go teach all nations, baptizing them in the name (by the authority) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19).  "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ" (Gal. 3:27).

The Lord God and Christ the Lord are two title Names in which THREE Heavenly Persons equally are made to work and RULE in matters of our own creation and redemption of life.  New Testament Christians have been created and redeemed by THREE equal Persons who are made to be called the Lord God and Christ the Lord in being our Creator and our Redeemer.
