Love

The churches of Christ Greet You (Romans 16:16)

Let us pray…

Holy Father, we again come to you in prayer.

As always, we come with humbleness as we approach your mighty throne.

We come with thankfulness for your love and grace.

We come with our request and supplications for your help.

Dear Father, we ask you now to help us love as we should.

Help us love like Jesus loved.

Help us love our enemies, our neighbor, and our brethren.

Help us love the sick, the deformed, and the sinner in the way.

Help us love the leaders of our nation, the prisoners, and the oppressed.

Help us love our spouse, our children, and the souls of all mankind.

Help us love You and prove our love by keeping Your commandments.

In the name of the One who died for our sins…

By the authority of Jesus we pray.

Let us all say, AMEN!

From time to time Christians must study the more meaty subjects of the Bible. The subject of LOVE fits well into our definition of “meat.” The plain and simple teachings about love need to be taught NOW, because this generation does not know the difference between LOVE and LUST. Parents, elders, preachers, teachers, children - are you ready? We can save our neighbors, our children, our families, and ourselves if we teach and apply the truth about the God of Love (1 John 4:8).

But what more about love could we possible want to know than what the apostle presents in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13? This chapter shows the incomparable qualities of love. The careful student will observe:

(1)  The necessity of love - vv.1-3;

(2)  Love's characteristics - vv.4-7;

(3)  The superiority of love - vv.8-12;

(4)  The value of love - v.13.

Multitudes have never known or experienced genuine love, simply because they have not known what to look for or where to find it. Because this is the case, this series will examine the doctrine of love from several points of  view.
